You wouldn’t expect to read something like this in Fortune Magazine, but a feature article earlier this week wondered aloud “Why Millennials Should Ditch Corporate Jobs for Public Service.” You could’ve knocked us over with a feather.
We know firsthand that national service and volunteering “brings people from across the country and across the aisle together to see eye to eye and learn from each other as they work for a shared purpose” – something that would be great for our nation during a time when we appear more and more divided.
We also know that Millennials – like many who are currently serving in AmeriCorps – are a great untapped resource for the nation. Let’s hope more people get the message.
