MLK Day: The Dream of a ‘Beloved Community’

Former U.S. Senator Harris Wofford shares memories of traveling with Dr. Martin Luther King and his wife Coretta Scott King, and Dr. King telling him the reason he took a leadership role in the civil rights movement – it was because someone asked and he said “yes.”

As Sen. Wofford remembers the impetus behind the creation of the MLK Holiday and National Day of Service, he asks Americans to honor Dr. King’s legacy and to help fulfill his dream of a “Beloved Community” by serving on the King holiday.

Let’s make it a day on, not a day off!
