Iowa to Alaska: AmeriCorps Responds to Floods (Video)

One year ago, an ice jam on the Yukon River caused massive flooding of the remote town of Galena, Alaska, forcing an evacuation of all residents.  Shortly after the flooding, AmeriCorps members deployed to the region to provide key support, including a 9-person team from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Keepers of the Land AmeriCorps program.  Travelling from Iowa to Alaska, AmeriCorps members stayed for 31 days, serving more than 2,600 hours.  The members mucked and gutted more than 50 structures, collected and distributed donations to local families, and cleared more than 87 tons of debris.   This video tells their story.
